The Harry Lawrence Batschelet II Chair of Educational Administration

To fulfill its mission, the Chair has supported a range of activities, including the initiation of a series of conferences in 2020. These conferences serve as crucial initiatives that propel research in areas of utmost importance to the Commonwealth and the field of Educational Leadership. By fostering collaboration and facilitating research endeavors, the Chair contributes to advancing knowledge and expertise while strengthening the University’s commitment to the community it serves.
Dr. Gerry LeTendre is the Harry Lawrence Batschelet II Chair of Educational Administration at The Pennsylvania State University. He served as the editor of The American Journal of Education and was also formerly Head of the Department of Educational Policy Studies. He has been a Spencer post-doctoral fellow and was a Fulbright Senior Scholar at the University of Bremen in Germany (2003-2004) and Sophia University (2016) in Tokyo. His recent books include Promoting and Sustaining a Quality Teaching Workforce: Conflict, Convergence and Consensus (with Alex Wiseman, Emerald Press); Improving Teacher Quality: The U.S. Teacher Workforce in Global Context (with Motoko Akiba, Teachers College Press). His current research focuses on how online education and disruptive technologies are shaping the professional status of teachers around the world.
